When it comes to running an online business, it's easy to get caught up in all of the things you have to do and before you know it your business is running you instead of you running it.
Here's the thing, you didn't start a business to let it run you or your life, and you also didn't leave a job you hate in order to create a job you hate. So it's important to remind ourselves that we are the CEO's of our business and life. We are the ones who get to determine what our life and business look like.
But here's the thing, if we aren't intentional about it, it won't happen. Life and business will run their course and we will find ourselves on the struggle bus trying to keep up with it.
It's time to change that. Let's help you learn how to create your dream life and business schedule so you can run your day-to-day instead of letting it run you:
Tip #1: Decide what your ideal week looks like
It all starts by giving yourself the space to dream. Grab a notebook or a blank sheet of paper and list out the days of the week. Decide what your dream day-to-day looks like instead of what you think it's supposed to look like. Do you prefer slower mornings? Working early? Taking mid-day breaks? Working later? Making room for time with family daily? Finishing work early? Figure out what works for you and plan accordingly.
Tip #2: Implement in stages
It can feel overwhelming to completely change your day-to-day all at once. So start small. Figure out one thing you can change or implement for the week based on your dream schedule and start with that. Then the following week add the next thing. Make small changes each week and work towards your vision for your dream week.
Tip #3: Set boundaries
This is one of the most important things you can do in order to ensure your dream schedule come true. It's important to do both in your business and your life. For example, if you decide you want to work Tuesday-Thursday from 10-2pm only let clients know that's when you are available for them and then let friends and family know that those are your work hours and you have Friday-Monday available for them. It's important to determine your dream schedule and then set the boundaries that will help respect the schedule you have created for yourself and for others.
Tip #4: Be flexible
Lastly, be flexible. It's okay if you create a dream schedule and then realize that you want to move some things around. It's okay if your child's schedule changes so you have to shift things or you realize you work better at different times. This is YOUR business and life and the key takeaway I want you to have here is that it's all about what works for YOU.
Focus on what will bring you ease, peace, clarity, confidence and comfort. Now what will stress you out or make things crazy in your business and life. Learn to run your life and business like a CEO and things will be smoother and your life will become more fulfilling.
